Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet saved four early chances in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
